The Radancy platform is online and entirely cloud-based and does not require special configuration in most circumstances. We strive to make the platform as easy to use as possible; however, we recognize that some organizations operate within strict IT environments.
In such cases, we suggest working with your IT department to safely meet Radancy's technical requirements to ensure a successful experience. Live Video Broadcasts, Group Videos, and 1-on-1 video and audio chats utilize Vonage technology and have separate technical requirements beyond the Radancy minimum requirements.
Radancy operates best without a VPN enabled. If your organization requires that you use a VPN, you must talk to your IT department about the best practice to successfully use Radancy and obtain any necessary approvals before altering your computer settings. |
Before using Radancy, perform a service check to determine whether you need to adjust your firewall permissions.
The service check does not review every potential risk factor. If you continue to have issues, please contact Radancy Support. |
Special Note Regarding Access Limitations for United Arab Emirates (UAE) Like most voIP services, Radancy's third-party live video provider Vonage has been blocked in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as of September 2022. This means that any Hiring Event participant attempting to use 1:1 video chat or watch a Live Video Broadcast from the UAE will likely not be able to use or access those features. The Vonage team continues to actively work with the UAE telecom regulatory authority to restore access to Vonage Video APIs in the country, with a target resolution in the first half of 2023. Radancy will update this article as we learn more information. |

Live Video Broadcast, Group Video, and 1-on-1 Video and Audio Chats, minimum requirements
Live Video Broadcasts provide live video broadcast and screen sharing capabilities in your event. Group Video allows you to hold a live video/audio chat between booth hosts and participants, with up to a total of nine people at a time. One-on-One (1:1) Video and Audio Chat gives Representatives the option to transition from a text-based conversation to a private video chat with an event Candidate/Attendee.
All three features use Vonage technology, which is built using WebRTC. All multimedia traffic is routed through Vonage media servers; peer-to-peer connections are never used. Hosts, Presenters, and Representatives see an incoming video in real-time.
If you are troubleshooting your audio and video connection, first review Troubleshooting Audio & Video for Live Video Features in Radancy, then review the technical requirements below.
Hardware
Radancy video services require access to each user's camera and microphone. Hosts and Presenters must enable access to their device's screen to share a presentation. Read more about enabling camera and microphone permissions on a PC and Mac. Read about screen sharing permissions on a Mac.
Supported browsers
Radancy is only compatible with the latest two versions of the supported browsers. Please update your browser before joining a Hiring Event.
Browsers supported by the Radancy platform include:
- MS Edge
- Older, non-Chromium versions of Microsoft Edge (prior to version 79) do not support screen sharing capabilities.
- Firefox
- Google Chrome (desktop and mobile)
- Safari (desktop and mobile)
- Screen sharing capabilities are limited on Safari.
Click here if you don't know which browser you're using.
Bandwidth requirements
A minimum of 350 kbps available bandwidth per stream is recommended for the lowest acceptable quality on Radancy video services. A stream is any incoming or outgoing source.
1:1 Video and Audio Chats
1:1 Video and Audio Chats consist of two streams, one from each person in the chat.
The lowest acceptable video and audio quality in 1-on-1 Video and Audio Chats requires at least 700 kbps available bandwidth from each participant to handle the incoming and outgoing video and audio. Fair quality video and audio chats need 1000 kbps (1 mbps) or higher available bandwidth. For high quality sessions, we recommend 3 mbps or higher available bandwidth.
Live Video Broadcasts & Group Video
At least 350 kbps available bandwidth per stream is recommended for the lowest acceptable quality for Live Video Broadcasts and Group Videos.
For example, a Live Video Broadcast with a presenter in the Host role, an additional Presenter, and a shared screen consists of 3 streams. In this scenario, each Presenter should have at least 3x350kbps available bandwidth.
The recommended bandwidth for fair video and audio quality is 500 kbps available bandwidth per stream. In this case, 3 people in a Group Video would need at least 1500 kbps available bandwidth.
For high quality sessions, we recommend at least 1 mbps available bandwidth per stream.
Required domains
Users' browsers must be able to reach the following domains directly, in addition to the standard Radancy whitelisted domains:
- *.tokbox.com
- *.opentok.com
Required ports
Radancy Video Services automatically negotiate the best possible route for multimedia traffic. Open the following ports:
- TCP: 443
- UDP: 3478
Optionally, Vonage recommends opening the following ports to ensure the best audio and video experience:
- UDP range: 1025-65535
WebSockets
WebSockets are recommended, but not required, for Radancy video services. Certain metadata, such as the other users' connectivity status, is relayed over a WebSocket connection and is lost when this connection type is blocked.
Proxies
All three features work as normal through transparent proxies. Proxies which inspect and/or alter traffic may interfere with video and audio capabilities. Talk to your Radancy Account Manager and organization's IT department to determine the best practice.
IP whitelist
IMPORTANT!
Effective August 2nd, 2023, our audio/video service provider, Vonage, will be updating their IP address ranges. This update will introduce two new global IP address ranges that will replace their previous list of IPs. We highly recommend the two global IP address ranges below are whitelisted by your IT team before August 2nd, 2023, to help avoid interruptions of the audio and video services during events.
