Send Broadcast Messages

A Broadcast Message is a message that can be sent to a specific group of participants, or everyone, during your event, to communicate something immediately that may affect the event or their experience.

Use Broadcast Messages to call attention to certain booths or opportunities, to give instructions to attendees, or to send messages to booth or event representatives. Multiple messages can be broadcast at the same time.

Broadcast Messages appear in the bottom right corner of the Event Lobby and remain there until the participant dismisses them.

To add a new Broadcast Message:

1. From your Event Home, select Settings, then Broadcast Messages.

2. Click Add Message, and enter a Title (up to 50 characters). This is the message header, so it could say something like “Attention” or “Welcome”. Then, enter your message text (up to 200 characters). A live character counter will appear in the top-right corner as you type.

   

3. By default, your message is displayed to all event participants. You can narrow the audience using two separate filters:
   • Show only in these booths: Limits where the message is displayed.
   • Show only to: Limits the message to candidates (attendees), representatives, or both.
      
     Selecting a booth does not automatically limit the message to candidates or representatives in that booth. If you select a booth but do not select a participant group, the message is sent to everyone associated with the selected booth. To target only candidates or only representatives, select the appropriate participant group as well.

   • Examples:

     • To send a message to candidates in specific booths, select the applicable booths and then select Candidates/Attendees.
     • To send a message to representatives in specific booths, select the applicable booths and then select Representatives.
     • To send a message to everyone in specific booths, select the applicable booths and leave the participant-group options unselected.
     • To send a message to all candidates in the event, select Candidates/Attendees without selecting any booths.
     • To send a message to all representatives in the event, select Representatives without selecting any booths.

     • To send a message to everyone in the event, leave both filters unselected.

       If you’ve restricted your broadcast to an Open Networking booth, you cannot further restrict it by participant type.

4. Click OK to save and start broadcasting your message.
5. The message continues to broadcast until you select Stop Broadcasting on the Broadcast Messages page. If a participant dismisses the message, it will not reappear. Anyone who joins the target audience while the broadcast is active will receive the message.
